This bill amends section 49-1701 of the Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska to update the procedures for the publication and distribution of the Constitution of Nebraska following statewide elections. Key changes include the requirement for the Revisor of Statutes to compile an updated copy of the Constitution within ten calendar days after the board of state canvassers completes the canvass of a statewide election where an amendment is adopted. The bill also specifies that the Secretary of State must promptly certify this updated copy if it accurately reflects the text of the Constitution, and it eliminates the previous requirement for the Revisor to transmit the updated copy after the Legislature adjourns.

Additionally, the bill allows the Revisor of Statutes to forgo compiling an updated copy if there are no changes to the Constitution's text or notes after any statewide general election. If this decision is made, the Revisor must still notify the Secretary of State and the Clerk of the Legislature and transmit the updated copy for review and certification. The original section 49-1701 is repealed, and the act is declared to take effect immediately upon passage and approval due to the existence of an emergency.
