The bill amends section 19-5504 of the Revised Statutes Cumulative Supplement, 2024, under the Municipal Density and Missing Middle Housing Act, to update the reporting requirements for cities regarding affordable housing. Cities are required to submit a report every two years by July 1, detailing their zoning codes, ordinances, and regulations related to affordable housing. The report must now include new information such as the number of multifamily housing units constructed since March 13, 1991, that comply with federal accessibility requirements, as well as a demographic analysis of housing needs classified by type and price range.
Additionally, the bill removes a previous requirement for a demographic analysis of the city with trends and estimates of housing needs, replacing it with the new requirement regarding multifamily housing units. The Urban Affairs Committee of the Legislature retains the authority to request cities to present their reports at public hearings. The original section 19-5504 is repealed as part of this legislative update.
