If a contribution exceeds this limit, the candidate or committee must refund the excess amount within ten days and report the details of the contribution in subsequent campaign statements. Notably, this limit does not apply to personal funds contributed by a candidate to their own committee.

Additionally, the bill establishes a mechanism for adjusting the contribution limit every two years, beginning January 1, 2029, based on the cumulative percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers. The adjusted limit will be rounded to the nearest hundred dollars. The original section of the law being amended is repealed, ensuring that the new provisions are clearly established within the legal framework.
