This bill amends sections 20-506 and 43-4202 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes to modify the membership of the Racial Profiling Advisory Committee and the Nebraska Children's Commission. For the Racial Profiling Advisory Committee, the bill adds a new member, the chairperson of the Commission on African American Affairs or their designee, while removing the executive director of the Commission on Indian Affairs from the list of members. The committee will now consist of a total of eight appointed representatives from various law enforcement and civil rights organizations, in addition to the chairperson and other designated members.

In the Nebraska Children's Commission, the bill introduces a new requirement for the Governor to appoint one individual from a list of nominees submitted by the Commission on African American Affairs, while also removing the requirement for a young adult previously in foster care to be a voting member. The commission will continue to include a diverse range of stakeholders involved in child welfare and juvenile justice systems, ensuring a collaborative approach to monitoring and evaluating these systems. The bill also outlines the roles of nonvoting, ex officio members and the commission's operational structure, including the hiring of a policy analyst to support its functions.
