The resolution recognizes the significance of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) programs, which were established by the National Defense Act of 1916. These programs are noted for their contributions to communities, military leadership, and youth development. Specifically, the resolution highlights the achievements of the JROTC from Omaha South High School, which is sponsored by Sergeant Sorenson, in the recent Battalion Regional Raider Competition held in Black Hills, South Dakota.

The Omaha South High JROTC excelled in the competition, securing first place in several events, including the overall raider, obstacle course, physical endurance course, cross country rescue, 5K team run, and rope bridge, while also placing second in the gauntlet. In recognition of their outstanding performance, the Nebraska Legislature congratulates the students of the Omaha South High School JROTC for their accomplishments and directs that a copy of the resolution be sent to the JROTC program.
