The resolution honors Erwin H. Schopp, a soldier from Plymouth, Nebraska, who was captured and died as a prisoner of war during World War II. Schopp served in the Headquarters Battery of the 59th Coastal Artillery Regiment during the Japanese invasion of the Philippine Islands in December 1941. He was captured along with many other U.S. and Filipino service members and died on January 1, 1943, while interned at the Cabanatuan POW camp, where he was buried in a common grave.

The Nebraska Legislature expresses gratitude for Schopp's service and acknowledges the ongoing efforts of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency in seeking to account for fallen military personnel. The resolution concludes by directing that a copy be sent to Schopp's family, recognizing his sacrifice and the impact on his loved ones and community.
