The resolution proposes an interim study to evaluate the effectiveness of programs that address health-related social needs, such as food insecurity, unemployment, and housing instability, which negatively impact health outcomes. The study aims to assess the outcomes of existing programs targeting populations with high health and social risk factors, analyze the effects on participants' health outcomes and healthcare costs, and review successful programs implemented in other states under Medicaid and private initiatives.
The Health and Human Services Committee of the Nebraska Legislature is tasked with conducting this study. Upon completion, the committee is required to report its findings and recommendations to the Legislative Council or the Legislature, providing insights into the potential benefits of adopting similar programs in Nebraska to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
