The resolution proposes an interim study to explore nonopioid pharmacological treatment options within Medicaid. It aims to evaluate the accessibility of these treatments, assess initiatives promoting nonopioid pain management, analyze the benefits and risks associated with opioid use, and investigate potential cost savings for Medicaid by reducing opioid addiction and related deaths.
The Health and Human Services Committee of the Nebraska Legislature is tasked with conducting this study. Upon completion, the committee is required to report its findings and recommendations to the Legislative Council or the Legislature.
