The Nebraska Legislature has passed a resolution congratulating Dr. Melvin Campbell for receiving the 2024 Copic Humanitarian Award, which is presented annually to a physician who significantly contributes to improving healthcare in their community. Dr. Campbell, a lifelong resident of Ainsworth, has dedicated his career to internal medicine, serving as the sole provider in his area for many years. His extensive experience includes working with the United States Public Health Service and the Indian Health Service, as well as holding key positions such as Chief of Staff at Brown County Hospital and Medical Director for local ambulance associations.

In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Campbell is noted for his unique contributions, including being one of the few internists in Nebraska to deliver babies, with over five hundred deliveries to his credit. As part of the award, he has chosen to donate the associated $10,000 to the Brown County Hospital Auxiliary. The resolution expresses the Legislature's appreciation for Dr. Campbell's service to the state and directs that a copy of the resolution be sent to him.
