The resolution proposes an interim study to evaluate the various retirement systems managed by the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Board. This includes the State Employees Retirement System, the Retirement System for Nebraska Counties, the School Employees Retirement System, the Nebraska State Patrol Retirement System, the Nebraska Judges Retirement System, and the retirement system under the Class V School Employees Retirement Act. The study aims to address critical issues related to funding needs, benefits, contributions, and the overall administration of these retirement systems.
To facilitate this study, the Nebraska Retirement Systems Committee of the Legislature will be tasked with conducting the examination. Upon completion, the committee is required to report its findings and recommendations to the Legislative Council or the Legislature, ensuring that the insights gained from the study can inform future legislative actions regarding public employee retirement systems in Nebraska.
