The Legislative Resolution honors Joe Edmondson, who posthumously received the 2024 Bobby Douglas Legacy Award for his significant contributions to the Black wrestling community. Despite becoming a quadriplegic after a trampoline accident in 1964, Joe defied expectations by starting his own wrestling program in 1968 while pursuing a master's degree. He also founded the Exploradories and the Edmondson Youth Outreach Center at the YMCA, providing mentorship and wrestling opportunities for inner-city youth.

Throughout his life, Joe earned numerous accolades, including the Gold level certification in the National Coaches Education Program, being named USA Wrestling's 1985 Kids Person of the Year, and receiving recognition as a Point of Light from President George H. W. Bush in 1991. The resolution expresses the Legislature's congratulations to Joe Edmondson and his family for this posthumous honor, acknowledging his lasting impact on wrestling and the community. A copy of the resolution will be sent to his family.
