The resolution honors John Cook, the head coach of the University of Nebraska volleyball team, for his remarkable achievements and contributions to the sport and the state of Nebraska. Cook, who began his tenure in 2000, led the team to multiple NCAA Division I championships and received numerous accolades, including being named National Coach of the Year three times and earning induction into the American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Under his leadership, the Nebraska volleyball program produced numerous Olympians, All-Americans, and academic achievers, solidifying its reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate volleyball.

In addition to his coaching success, Cook was instrumental in hosting a record-breaking event, Volleyball Day in Nebraska, which drew an unprecedented attendance of 92,003 at Memorial Stadium. The resolution expresses gratitude for Cook's contributions to the state and congratulates him on his illustrious career, which he announced would conclude with his retirement on January 29, 2025, after 25 years of service. A copy of the resolution will be sent to him as a token of appreciation.
