This bill amends section 25-2228 of the Revised Statutes Cumulative Supplement, 2024, to update the provisions regarding the publication of legal notices. The new language allows for legal notices to be published not only in traditional print newspapers but also on the website or application of a digital news publication if the digital outlet does not have a print version. It specifies that legal notices must be published for a certain number of days or weeks, either in print or online, and clarifies that weekly newspapers can still publish these notices. Additionally, it states that any newspaper or digital news publication must be qualified under existing law to publish such notices.

Furthermore, starting October 1, 2022, the bill mandates that all legal publications must also be posted on a statewide website maintained by a majority of Nebraska newspapers, serving as a repository for these notices. However, it emphasizes that the validity of the publication will not be affected by the posting or lack thereof on the statewide website. The original section 25-2228 is repealed as part of this legislative update.
