The proposed bill amends Nebraska's game and parks regulations, primarily adjusting permit fees and the issuance of various permits. The annual permit fee for a resident motor vehicle is increased from thirty-five dollars to fifty dollars, and the temporary permit fee rises from seven dollars to ten dollars. Additionally, the bill allows for the issuance of up to two mountain sheep permits through an auction, doubling the previous limit. The commission is also empowered to establish an issuing fee for permits, which will now be specified pursuant to section 37-406. New provisions for limited hunting permits for species such as deer, antelope, wild turkey, and elk are introduced, with fees set at half the cost of regular permits for both residents and nonresidents, along with specific eligibility criteria for landowners and their immediate family members.
Furthermore, the bill amends Section 37-1214 regarding motorboat registration, requiring owners to register or renew their registration every three years, with fees based on the boat class. The registration fees are set at twenty-eight dollars for Class 1 boats, fifty-one dollars for Class 2, seventy-two dollars and fifty cents for Class 3, and one hundred twenty dollars for Class 4. A portion of these fees, not exceeding ten dollars, will be allocated to the Aquatic Invasive Species Program. The bill also modifies the requirements for obtaining an aquatic invasive species stamp for non-registered motorboats, adjusting the cost to a range of ten to thirty dollars. Additionally, it mandates detailed identification information for motorboat registration applications and repeals several sections of existing law related to motorboat registration.
