This bill amends section 25-21,185.11 of the Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska, which pertains to civil procedure and the implications of releases, covenants not to sue, or similar agreements on joint and several liability. The bill clarifies that such agreements will discharge the person who is released from all liability to the claimant but will not discharge other liable parties unless explicitly stated. Additionally, the claimant's claim against other liable parties will be reduced by the amount of the released person's share of the obligation as determined by the trier of fact.

Furthermore, the bill introduces new provisions that specify that a release or similar agreement with one or more persons liable does not affect the joint and several liability of any other parties involved in the same claim. This means that other liable parties remain accountable regardless of the agreements made with one party. The original section 25-21,185.11 is repealed as part of this legislative update.
