The proposed bill establishes the Task Force on Supported Employment in Nebraska, which aims to study the barriers faced by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving and maintaining competitive integrated employment. The task force will also explore available employment opportunities for these individuals and provide recommendations to the Legislature, the Governor, and relevant state agencies. The task force will consist of both voting and nonvoting members, including representatives from the Governor's office, various state departments, service providers, self-advocates, and disability organizations, with appointments to be made by the Governor and other officials by September 1, 2025.

Additionally, the task force is tasked with reviewing a 2023 report on supported employment and creating an action plan that addresses the recommendations outlined in that report. This includes identifying barriers to workforce entry, assessing untapped workforce potential, and evaluating the impact of additional working hours on benefits for individuals with disabilities. The task force is required to submit an electronic report to the Legislature and the Governor by July 1, 2027, and will be dissolved on December 31, 2027.
