This bill aims to enhance the state's response to human trafficking by amending existing statutes related to the human trafficking task force and establishing new requirements for hotels and public lodging establishments. It mandates the placement of informational posters about human trafficking in hotels and similar establishments, as well as the provision of training for employees in these venues. The training will cover various aspects of human trafficking, including identification of victims, reporting procedures, and the differences between labor and sex trafficking. The Department of Labor is tasked with collaborating with the task force to develop and approve this training.

Additionally, the bill limits the liability of hotel owners, operators, and employees concerning human trafficking incidents committed by third parties, provided they have implemented the required training and policies. The task force will continue to investigate human trafficking in Nebraska, assess the effectiveness of prevention efforts, and report its findings and recommendations to the Legislature. The bill also repeals the original sections of the statutes being amended, ensuring that the new provisions take effect.
