This bill amends sections of the Nebraska State Insurance Program to require coverage for in vitro fertilization (IVF) starting July 1, 2025. It introduces new provisions that allow the Nebraska State Insurance Program to limit IVF coverage to a lifetime maximum of four completed egg retrievals and to individuals who have been unable to conceive through less expensive infertility treatments. Additionally, it mandates that covered procedures be performed at facilities adhering to standards set by recognized medical organizations.

The bill also modifies existing provisions regarding special coverages in group life and health insurance contracts. It ensures that these special coverages, which include benefits like accidental death and dismemberment, are uniformly available to all employees, while allowing each employee the option to select or reject these coverages. The original language that specified the uniform availability of special coverages has been deleted, streamlining the provisions. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon passage due to the declaration of an emergency.
