This bill amends section 79-760.01 of the Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska to require the State Board of Education to adopt measurable academic content standards for human embryology as part of the science education standards. The board is mandated to establish these standards by March 1, 2026, and integrate them into school curricula by the start of the 2026-27 school year. The standards will include instruction on human development that accurately reflects the biological science of human embryology, specifically incorporating the Carnegie Stages of Human Embryonic Development, as well as high-definition visual recordings demonstrating fetal development.

Additionally, the bill allows parents, guardians, or educational decision-makers to opt their students out of the human embryology instruction if they choose. The original section 79-760.01 is repealed, and the bill is designated to take effect immediately upon passage and approval due to the declaration of an emergency.
