This bill amends section 44-3614 of the Revised Statutes Cumulative Supplement, 2024, to modify the eligibility requirements for Medicare supplement policies in Nebraska. It mandates that insurance issuers must provide at least one Medicare supplement policy to individuals under sixty-five who are eligible for Medicare due to disability. The bill also introduces an annual thirty-day open enrollment period starting on the applicant's birthday, during which issuers cannot deny coverage, impose medical underwriting, or exclude benefits based on preexisting conditions.

Additionally, the bill specifies that premium rates for Medicare supplement policies may vary between individuals over and under sixty-five, but such differences must be reasonable and not discriminatory. The premium for those under sixty-five cannot exceed 150% of the premium for similarly situated individuals who are sixty-five or older. The original section 44-3614 is repealed as part of this legislative update.
