This bill amends section 81-1850 of the Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska to expand the list of offenses that fall under victim notification requirements. New offenses included are manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide, various degrees of assault, terroristic threats, stalking, false imprisonment, sexual abuse by a school employee, and several forms of sexual assault and trafficking. The bill also removes certain offenses from the previous list, such as specific references to assault degrees and sexual assault of a child in the first degree.

Additionally, the bill clarifies the notification process for victims, ensuring they receive timely information regarding the convicted person's status, including parole eligibility and any hearings. It establishes that victims can waive their right to notification but may also request it at any time after the convicted person is incarcerated. Furthermore, the bill stipulates that victims' addresses and phone numbers will be exempt from public disclosure under Nebraska public records laws and federal freedom of information laws. The original section 81-1850 is repealed as part of this legislative update.
