This bill amends section 49-1474.01 of the Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska to enhance the requirements for disclaimers on political materials. Specifically, it mandates that any person who pays for the production, distribution, or posting of political advertisements, such as billboards or printed matter, must include a disclaimer that contains their name and either their street address or post office box number. Additionally, for radio and television advertisements, the disclaimer must include the name of the person paying for the ad, and the respective station is required to keep the address information on file for at least six months, making it available upon request.

The bill also outlines that the size and placement of these disclaimers will be determined by rules and regulations set by the commission, which may exempt certain items like windshield stickers and campaign buttons from the disclaimer requirement. Furthermore, it establishes that knowingly violating these provisions will result in a Class IV misdemeanor. The original section 49-1474.01 is repealed as part of this legislative update.
