1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to homesteads; to amend section 40-101,
2 Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska; to change provisions relating
3 to homestead exemptions for judgment liens and executions; and to
4 repeal the original section.
5 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. Section 40-101, Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska, is
2 amended to read:
3 40-101 Each natural person residing in this state shall have exempt
4 from judgment liens and from execution or forced sale, except as provided
5 in sections 40-101 to 40-116, a A homestead not exceeding one hundred
6 twenty sixty thousand dollars in value consisting shall consist of the
7 dwelling house in which the claimant resides, its appurtenances, and the
8 land on which the same is situated, not exceeding one hundred and sixty
9 acres of land, to be selected by the owner, and not in any incorporated
10 city or village, or, at the option of the claimant, a quantity of
11 contiguous land not exceeding two lots within any incorporated city or
12 village, and shall be exempt from judgment liens and from execution or
13 forced sale, except as provided in sections 40-101 to 40-116.
14 Sec. 2. Original section 40-101, Reissue Revised Statutes of
15 Nebraska, is repealed.
