1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to appropriations; to state intent regarding
2 appropriations to the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska
3 for research.
4 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to appropriate
2 $350,000 from the General Fund for FY2024-25 to the Board of Regents of
3 the University of Nebraska for a study on the viability of using roof-
4 collected rainwater as a safe and sustainable source of drinking water.
5 It is the intent of the Legislature that this research initiative
6 investigate the effectiveness of various filtration and purification
7 methods in removing chemical and biological contaminants from rainwater,
8 with the goal of providing a reliable alternative water source for
9 household use.
