1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to correctional facilities; to define a term;
2 and to require demolition of the Nebraska State Penitentiary as
3 prescribed.
4 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. (1) For purposes of this section, new multi-custody-
2 level correctional facility means a state correctional facility
3 constructed after the effective date of this act that has capacity to
4 house approximately one thousand five hundred twelve inmates, with a mix
5 of maximum, medium, and minimum custody beds.
6 (2) Within twelve months after the State of Nebraska completes
7 construction of a new multi-custody-level correctional facility, the
8 state shall demolish the correctional facility commonly known as the
9 Nebraska State Penitentiary.
