1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to appropriations; to appropriate funds from
2 the Drinking Water Facilities Loan Fund to the Department of
3 Environment and Energy for grants to municipal drinking water
4 treatment plants; and to declare an emergency.
5 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. There is hereby appropriated $30,000,000 from the
2 Drinking Water Facilities Loan Fund for FY2023-24 to the Department of
3 Environment and Energy, Program 528, to provide grants that allow up to
4 fifty percent loan forgiveness in order to expand municipal drinking
5 water treatment plants and all related appurtenances, settling basins,
6 pumps, storage tanks, and water distribution facilities, including costs
7 for the acquisition of land needed for the purpose of locating eligible
8 project components and to support the additional demand for processing
9 agricultural products, enhanced water quality, creation of new capital
10 investment, and creation of new jobs in the State of Nebraska.
11 Sec. 2. Since an emergency exists, this act takes effect when
12 passed and approved according to law.
