1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to appropriations; to appropriate Federal
2 Funds to the Department of Health and Human Services for grants for
3 mentorship organizations; and to declare an emergency.
4 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. There is hereby appropriated $20,000,000 from Federal
2 Funds for FY2023-24 to the Department of Health and Human Services for
3 the purpose of managing and distributing grants to mentorship
4 organizations throughout Nebraska. The Federal Funds appropriated in this
5 section are from the Department of Health and Human Services existing
6 surplus reserve of TANF funds allocated pursuant to the Personal
7 Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA)
8 (Pub. L. 104-193). Total expenditures for administration of funds
9 authorized in this section shall not exceed $300,000 for FY2023-24 or
10 $300,000 for FY2024-25.
11 Sec. 2. Since an emergency exists, this act takes effect when
12 passed and approved according to law.
