1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to appropriations; to appropriate funds from
2 the General Fund to the Department of Agriculture to test emerging
3 technologies for sustainable irrigation; and to declare an
4 emergency.
5 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. There is hereby appropriated $1,500,000 from the General
2 Fund for FY2023-24 to the Department of Agriculture, Program 564, for the
3 purpose of providing a dollar-for-dollar private sector match to fund a
4 pilot program to test emerging technologies for sustainable irrigation.
5 It is the intent of the Legislature for the department to work with
6 experts in water research at the University of Nebraska to design the
7 pilot program and include Nebraska-based businesses that specialize in
8 advancing agricultural productivity.
9 Sec. 2. Since an emergency exists, this act takes effect when
10 passed and approved according to law.
