 1      A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to public assistance; to amend section 68-130,
 2          Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska; to change funding for county
 3          offices;   to provide an   operative date;   to repeal the original
 4          section; and to outright repeal section 81-1139.01, Reissue Revised
 5          Statutes of Nebraska.
 6      Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

 1          Section 1. Section 68-130, Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska, is
 2      amended to read:
  3         68-130 (1) Counties shall maintain, at no additional cost to the
  4     Department of Health and Human Services, office and service facilities
 5      used for the administration of the public assistance programs as such
 6      facilities existed on April 1, 1983. The state shall pay the cost for the
 7      office and service facilities used for the administration of the public
 8      assistance programs.
 9          (2) The county board of any county may request in writing that the
10      department review office and service facilities provided by the county
11      for the department to determine if the department is able to reduce or
12      eliminate office and service facilities within the county. The department
13      shall respond in   writing to   such request within thirty days after
14      receiving the request. The final decision with respect to maintaining,
15      reducing, or eliminating office and service facilities in such county
16      shall be made by the department, and the county may reduce or eliminate
17      office and service facilities if authorized by such final decision.
18          Sec. 2.     This act becomes operative on July 1, 2024.
19          Sec.   3.      Original section   68-130,      Reissue Revised Statutes of
20      Nebraska, is repealed.
 21         Sec.   4.      The following section is     outright repealed:    Section
 22     81-1139.01, Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska.
