1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to schools; to require display of the national
2 motto; to authorize contributions; and to provide duties for the
3 Attorney General.
4 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. (1) On and after the effective date of this act, each
2 school board shall prominently display the national motto of the United
3 States, "In God We Trust", written legibly in English, in each classroom
4 or in another prominent place in each school building where each student
5 shall be able to see and read it each day school is in session.
6 (2) A school board may accept contributions to defray the costs of
7 implementing this section.
8 (3) Upon the filing of an action seeking to invalidate this section
9 in any state or federal court, the Attorney General shall intervene on
10 behalf of any school board and any other party named as a defendant for
11 their role in implementing this section.
