This bill amends several sections of the North Dakota Century Code to address the maintenance of electronic pull tab devices and to eliminate dog racing. Notably, it introduces new provisions that allow manufacturers to work directly with licensed organizations for the maintenance and technical support of electronic pull tab devices. Additionally, it mandates that distributors or manufacturers notify licensed organizations of scheduled maintenance or repairs, allowing representatives from these organizations to be present during such activities. The bill also clarifies that a totalizator or service provider licensee is prohibited from using its license to offer bets on dog races.
Furthermore, the bill removes references to dog racing from the definitions and licensing requirements associated with racing in North Dakota. Specifically, it deletes the mention of simulcast dog racing from the definition of "racing" and eliminates the ability for licensees to conduct or bet on dog races. The effective date for these changes is set for August 1, 2027.
