The bill amends section 20.1-01-07 of the North Dakota Century Code, which regulates the use of motor-driven vehicles while hunting big game or small game, excluding waterfowl and cranes. It establishes that individuals, except landowners, must obtain written permission from the landowner to use a motor-driven vehicle on any land other than established roads or trails while hunting. The bill allows for the use of a motor-driven vehicle to retrieve a big game animal if it has been reduced to possession and cannot be easily retrieved, but mandates that the vehicle must return to the established road or trail along the same route.

Additionally, the bill introduces new provisions that prohibit individuals from using motor-driven vehicles to drive, run, molest, flush, or harass game while hunting. It also clarifies that motor-driven vehicles may be parked on the roadside or adjacent to roads or trails for safety and normal travel. The previous language that allowed certain exceptions for landowners and lessees has been removed, tightening the regulations on vehicle use during hunting activities.
