This bill proposes the creation of a new subsection to section 12-60-24 of the North Dakota Century Code, which mandates that the bureau of criminal investigation will accept digital fingerprints for requests for statewide criminal history record checks. The bureau is required to provide the results of these checks to the requesting agency, official, or entity within four business days after receiving the necessary authorization.
Additionally, the bill includes an appropriation of $5,000,000 from the general fund to the attorney general for the purpose of acquiring equipment and covering other costs related to the implementation of these criminal history record checks. The provisions of this bill will apply to requests received after its effective date of February 1, 2026.
