This bill amends subsection 2 of section 23-27-07 of the North Dakota Century Code, which outlines the licensed ambulance services that are exempt from the requirements for forming rural ambulance service districts. The amendment adds a new category of exemption for licensed ambulance services that are owned and operated by a hospital. Additionally, it clarifies that existing rural ambulance service districts organized under chapter 11-28.3 are also exempt from these requirements.

The bill retains exemptions for county-owned and city-owned ambulance services, those part of a joint powers agreement with a city or county-owned ambulance, and those owned by tribal or federal governments. The deletion of the phrase "pursuant" in relation to the organization of existing rural ambulance service districts simplifies the language while maintaining the intent of the law.
