The bill amends the North Dakota Century Code regarding the firefighters death benefits fund. It modifies subsection 2 of section 18-04-05 to allow the insurance commissioner to transfer up to one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars per biennium to the firefighters death benefit fund, replacing the previous limit of fifty thousand dollars.

Additionally, section 18-05.1-02 is amended to change the payment amount from the firefighters death benefit fund to a deceased firefighter's survivor from ten thousand dollars to twenty-five thousand dollars. This adjustment is made upon receipt of a request for payment and evidence of a line of duty death from the appropriate fire chief or their designee.
