This bill proposes a total appropriation of $3.75 million in one-time funding from the state general fund to various state departments, including the agriculture commissioner, attorney general, department of transportation, department of health and human services, and department of career and technical education. Each department is allocated $750,000 to provide grants for the use of uncrewed aircraft systems, autonomous vehicles, and other autonomous technologies. The funding aims to support various sectors, such as agriculture, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and workforce training, with specific eligibility criteria and matching fund requirements established for grant applicants.

Additionally, the bill mandates a legislative management study during the 2025-26 interim to analyze the economic impacts and benefits of investing in autonomous technology infrastructure within the state. This study will assess the sectors currently utilizing autonomous systems and those that could benefit from their implementation, as well as quantify the return on investment from the appropriated funds. The findings and recommendations from this study will be reported to the seventieth legislative assembly, potentially leading to further legislative action.
