1 A BILL for an Act to provide an appropriation to the department of health and human services
2 for providing primary, palliative, and hospice home-based services.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
4 SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION - DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES -
5 CONTINUUM OF HOME-BASED SERVICES. There is appropriated out of any moneys in the
6 general fund in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $82,000,000, or so
7 much of the sum as may be necessary, to the department of health and human services for the
8 purpose of providing grants for primary, palliative, and hospice home-based services for the
9 biennium beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2025.
10 1. The department shall award grants with the funds appropriated in this section to an
11 independent, nonprofit community-based hospice program that is certified by the
12 centers for Medicare and Medicaid services and licensed by the department of health
13 and human services.
14 2. Funds appropriated in this section may be used to implement, staff, and operate six
15 regional offices to deliver a continuum of primary, palliative, and hospice-based
16 services in underserved areas of the state and to construct, staff, and operate two
17 12-bed inpatient units.
