1 A BILL for an Act to create and enact a new section to chapter 37-18 of the North Dakota
2 Century Code, relating to department of veterans' affairs access to information.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
4 SECTION 1. A new section to chapter 37-18 of the North Dakota Century Code is created
5 and enacted as follows:
6 Suicide prevention - Access to records.
7 The commissioner may implement suicide prevention efforts for veterans and veterans'
8 dependents. Notwithstanding section 23-07-20.1, at the request of the commissioner, the
9 department of health and human services shall disclose to the department of veterans' affairs
10 suicide data under chapter 23-07. If the disclosed data includes personally identifiable
11 information, the department of veterans' affairs may not disclose the personally identifiable
12 information with a third party without entering a confidentiality agreement with the third party.
