Short Title: Teacher License Reciprocity from Every State. (Public)

2 AN ACT TO GRANT A CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL LICENSE TO ANY TEACHER
3 LICENSED IN ANOTHER STATE.
4 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
5 SECTION 1. G.S. 115C-270.20(a)(4a)b. is repealed.
6 SECTION 2. G.S. 115C-270.20 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
7 "(e) Out-of-state licensee. – The State Board of Education shall grant a CPL to a teacher
8 licensed in another state with substantially similar licensure requirements who has at least three
9 years of teaching experience and is in good standing with the other state. Teachers who receive
10 CPLs pursuant to this subsection are subject to all of the licensure requirements as teachers
11 granted CPLs granted pursuant to subdivision (1) of subsection (a) of this section."
12 SECTION 3. G.S. 115C-270.25 is repealed.
13 SECTION 4. This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to out-of-state
14 applicants for licenses submitted on or after that date.
