Short Title: ATV Safety Course Warning Label Exception. (Public)

3 AN EXCEPTION TO THE AGE RESTRICTION WARNING LABEL FOR
4 ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE SAFETY COURSE.
5 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
6 SECTION 1. G.S. 20-171.15(c) reads as rewritten:
7 "(c) It is unlawful for any parent or legal guardian of a person less than 16 years of age to
8 knowingly permit that person to operate an all-terrain vehicle in violation of the Age Restriction
9 Warning Label affixed by the manufacturer as required by the applicable American National
10 Standards Institute/Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (ANSI/SVIA) design standard. This
11 subsection shall not apply to a safety training course under G.S. 20-171.20 if the instructor
12 determines the weight or height of the person under the age of 16 requires the use of an all-terrain
13 vehicle that does not comply with the Age Restriction Warning."
14 SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law.
