2 AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN THE TOWN OF
3 VANCEBORO SHALL BE HELD IN EVEN-NUMBERED YEARS.
4 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
5 SECTION 1.(a) Section 2 of the Charter of the Town of Vanceboro, being Chapter
6 114 of the 1876-77 Session Laws, as amended by Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter 26 of the 1929
7 Session Laws, Section 1 of Chapter 185 of the 1929 Session Laws and Town Ordinance adopted
8 pursuant to G.S. 160A-102, which increased the terms of elected town officers from two to four
9 years, reads as rewritten:
10 "Section 2. That there shall be held an election on the first Tuesday in May, one thousand
11 nine hundred and twenty-nine, for the election of town officers to cover a term of office for two
12 years, and there shall be held an election every two years thereafter, on the first Tuesday in May,
13 for the election of town officers.Beginning in 2024 and quadrennially thereafter, regular
14 municipal elections shall be held for the election of town officers in accordance with the uniform
15 municipal election laws in North Carolina."
16 SECTION 1.(b) No municipal elections shall be conducted in the Town of
17 Vanceboro in 2023. The terms of office for the Mayor and all Aldermen serving on the effective
18 date of this act whose terms are set to expire in 2023 shall be extended by one year, and regular
19 municipal elections shall be conducted in 2024 and every four years thereafter.
20 SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to elections held
21 on or after that date.
