5 MEDICAL BOARD.
6 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
7 SECTION 1. G.S. 90-187.6 reads as rewritten:
8 "§ 90-187.6. Veterinary technicians and staff.
9 (a) "Veterinary technicians" and "veterinary student interns," before performing any
10 services otherwise prohibited to persons not licensed or registered under this Article, shall be
11 approved by and registered with the Board. The Board shall be responsible for all matters
12 pertaining to the qualifications, registration, discipline, and revocation of registration of these
13 persons, under this Article and rules issued by the Board.
14 (a1) No person shall use the title "registered veterinary technician" or the title "veterinary
15 technician," the abbreviation "R.V.T.," or any other words, letters, or symbols, with the intent to
16 represent that the person is authorized to act as a registered veterinary technician, unless that
17 person is licensed by or registered with the Board as a registered veterinary technician in
18 accordance with this Article.

20 SECTION 2. This act becomes effective October 1, 2023.
