This bill amends Section 7-13-2233 of the Montana Code Annotated, which outlines the qualifications for individuals to be elected or appointed to the board of directors of county water and sewer districts. The bill clarifies that to be eligible, an individual must be registered to vote, at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and either a resident of the district or an owner of real property within the district who resides in Montana. It specifies that an individual qualifies as a property owner if the property is titled in their name or held in a corporation, partnership, limited liability company, or trust where they serve as an officer, partner, member, or trustee.

Additionally, the bill modifies the language used to refer to individuals, replacing "a person" with "an individual" throughout the section. It also states that individuals appointed as nonvoting ex officio members may reside outside the district and are not required to own property within it. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon passage and approval.
