The bill establishes the Montana State Shooting Facilities and Improvements Development and Oversight Task Force, which will be responsible for overseeing the development of state-supported shooting facilities. The task force will consist of various members, including state officials, representatives from firearm and hunting organizations, and legislators. Its duties include selecting locations for the facilities, reviewing existing shooting facilities, developing specifications and plans, and making recommendations to the governor and relevant committees. The task force is allocated to the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks for administrative purposes and will report its findings by June 30, 2027.

Additionally, the bill creates the Montana State Shooting Facilities and Improvements Account, which will be funded through various lawful sources such as gifts and grants. The funds in this account will be used to develop a framework for selecting and locating shooting facilities, as well as for improvements to existing facilities. An appropriation of $55,000 from the general fund is allocated to the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks for the biennium beginning July 1, 2025, with any unspent funds reverting to the general fund. The act will take effect on July 1, 2025, and the task force will terminate on June 30, 2027.
