The bill establishes a provider training grant program specifically aimed at enhancing nonmedication therapies for individuals suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Administered by the Department of Labor and Industry, the program will fund training opportunities for mental health professionals. The department will select a grantee through a competitive process, which will be responsible for community engagement, training implementation, and quarterly reporting on the number of professionals trained and associated costs. Additionally, the department is required to report to the economic affairs interim committee annually until the project is completed.

To support this initiative, the bill appropriates $600,000 from the state general fund for the biennium beginning July 1, 2025, with the intention that this funding is a one-time-only appropriation. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
