4 A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: “AN ACT APPROPRIATING MONEY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF
5 AGRICULTURE FOR GRANTS TO ASSIST YELLOWSTONE, MUSSELSHELL, AND STILLWATER
6 COUNTIES TO COMBAT SALTCEDAR, RUSSIAN OLIVE, AND COMMON BUCKTHORN SPECIES; AND
7 PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.”

9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

11 NEW SECTION. Section 1. Appropriation. (1) There is appropriated $500,000 from the general fund
12 to the department of agriculture for one time only for the biennium beginning July 1, 2023, for the purpose of
13 providing grants as outlined in subsection (2).
14 (2) By August 1, 2023, the department of agriculture shall provide grants to the weed management
15 districts of Yellowstone, Musselshell, and Stillwater Counties. The purpose of these grants is to manage and
16 control existing infestations of saltcedar, Russian olive, and common buckthorn species within these three
17 counties.

19 NEW SECTION. Section 2. Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2023.
