4 A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: “AN ACT APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
5 TO ASSUME LAW ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES ON THE FLATHEAD RESERVATION; PROVIDING AN
6 APPROPRIATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND A TERMINATION DATE.”

8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

10 NEW SECTION. Section 1. Appropriation. (1) There is appropriated $75 million from the general
11 fund to the department of justice for the biennium beginning July 1, 2023, to assume jurisdiction of law
12 enforcement activities on the Flathead Indian reservation.
13 (2) The legislature intends that the appropriation in this section be considered part of the ongoing
14 base for the next legislative session.

16 NEW SECTION. Section 2. Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2023.

18 NEW SECTION. Section 3. Termination. [This act] terminates June 30, 2027.
