This bill introduces a gross vehicle weight fee specifically for the permanent registration of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The revenue generated from this fee will be deposited into the Highway Restricted Account, in accordance with Article VIII, Section 6, of the Montana Constitution.

Additionally, the bill amends Section 61-3-562 of the Montana Code Annotated (MCA) to incorporate these changes. It also includes a provision for a delayed effective date, allowing for a transition period before the new fee structure is implemented.
