This bill requires that beginning in the 2027-28 school year, school districts, charter schools, and publicly contracted private providers stop using seclusion on students as a form of punishment. These provisions do not apply to a special school district as established under Section 162.825, RSMo.
Districts and charter schools must adopt a policy that defines and prohibits seclusion.
This bill is similar to HB 2183 (2026).
