Currently, fire protection districts can charge a service fee to individuals that live outside the district but receive emergency services within the district.
This bill allows fire protection districts to charge a service fee to businesses, individuals, and their insurance companies, that receive emergency services within the boundaries of the district, except those who reside within or have a physical address within the district.
This bill is similar to SB 1689 (2026).
